Incentives, discounts, vouchers! During a cost of living crisis?! Yes please! Oh wait, not for me…
The NHS has unveiled new plans for 2027, to reward those who walk every day for 30 minutes- the equivalent to a ‘Marathon a Month’.
It’s an effort to tackle inactivity in the UK after the 2022 Health Survey for England reported that around two-thirds (64%) of adults are ‘above a healthy weight’. Of those, half are classified as ‘living with obesity’.
But… it can’t be just me that finds this new scheme extremely ableist? What about the people that can’t walk or struggle to?
Don’t they deserve the same access to these rewards as able-bodied people?
