Remigration and the Racist Right

History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes

There are many slogans people on the right gravitate towards. “Mass deportations now”, “God hates f**s”, or even simply “Make America Great Again”, are all slogans and ideas people on the right really get some mileage out of. One of the more disturbing demands from the right in recent times is the call for remigration for non-white immigrants, or even non-white people born in white-majority countries, and even non-white people born in the US.

Remigration is a racist policy promoted recently by members of the fringe right who see it as an opportunity to ensure a white majority in countries, including the US. You see a similar attitude among the far right in countries like Britain. With parties such as the British National Party or National Front, there have been calls for some variation of this policy for the last 50 years.

It is deeply racist policy, purely about removing Black-Indigenous-People of Color (BIPOC) from our countries. While some on the centre right will call for certain immigration controls and restrictions, they’re not usually doing so in the same way as people on the far right who call for remigration.
