Brazil have been eliminated. Norway took centre stage like never before as Erling Haaland powered the Vikings to the Fifa World Cup quarter finals on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Orlan Nyland starred, saving Bruno Guimaraes’ first-half penalty and denying Vinicius Junior and Rayan to keep Brazil out.

Norway led on 79 minutes when Haaland headed in Andreas Schjelderup’s cross, then sealed it in the 90th with a low strike.

Neymar converted a stoppage-time penalty, but it was too late. The defeat marks Brazil’s earliest World Cup exit since 1990 and their sixth straight loss to a European nation.

Haaland’s brace moves him level with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe on seven tournament goals. Norway will face Mexico or England in Miami on 11 July.

In Saturday’s action, Morocco put Canada away by three goals to nil to progress to the quarter finals.

The Canadians became the first co-hosts to be eliminated, with the Atlas Lions just too strong for them particularly in the second half.

Morocco will face France in a mouthwatering last eight clash after the 2022 runners-up overcame Paraguay 1-0 in a hard-fought battle in Philadelphia.

In the early hours of Monday morning, England take on Mexico at the Azteca before Portugal face France at 9pm.

USA host Belgium, Argentina face Egypt and Switzerland will battle Colombia on Tuesday to make up the final last 16 matches. All the action will continue to be broadcast live on SuperSport.
