Tana Dives Into 8-Mile Midmar Challenge for CANSA

Good Things Guy | 05.02.2026 18:00

Moved by the quiet yet incredibly brave battles faced by those diagnosed with cancer, 16-year-old Tana Sinclair commenced her first leg of the 8-mile Midmar Mile Charity Challenge this morning in support of their fight.

Midmar Dam, South Africa (05 February 2026) – Over the next two days, Tana Sinclair is making a splash for a cause close to her heart. Participating in the 8 Mile Midmar Charity Challenge, Tana will swim four miles today and another four tomorrow, all in support of those facing far greater battles.

“I’ve committed to swim as part of a fundraising initiative to support those affected by cancer, and I’ve set a goal of raising R10,000 for CANSA,” Tana says.

“This will be a physically and mentally demanding feat, and I am dedicating every stroke to the people who face daily struggles and hardships.”

Thanks to the incredible support of her community and the Kingswood College family, who also dedicated school civvies day to support her cause, Tana has already dived into the iconic dam, having exceeded her goal, with over R11,400 already raised at the time of publication!

Tana is no stranger to the water or to being of good service. She is an avid cricket player and loves the pool. She swam her first Midmar Mile at just nine years old and has completed 14 since then. Last year, she tackled five miles to benefit the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Hammersdale Early Learning Centre.

This year, she is one of 39 elite swimmers taking on the full 8-mile challenge to ensure her efforts make a lasting impact for The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Tana, your selflessness is as vast as the Midmar dam itself. As you navigate those eight miles, you shine a beacon of hope for others. You’ve got this!
