There’s a joke that runs through the Ward 88 WhatsApp group most weekends. Someone posts that the power’s gone again – usually on a Saturday afternoon, often on a Sunday morning – and within minutes somebody else replies: “Oh, it must be Sunday.” But no one laughs. It’s not that kind of joke. It’s the one you make when the alternative is to keep being angry about something that never quite gets fixed.
