South African actress Thuso Mbedu marked her 35th birthday with a heartfelt message that touched many of her fans. The award-winning star celebrated the special day by sharing stunning photos of herself standing next to a beautiful black Porsche, but it was the emotional caption that truly captured everyone’s attention.
Thuso began her birthday message with a famous quote that perfectly reflected the occasion. She wrote, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
She then revealed that turning 35 brought unexpected emotions. Instead of simply celebrating another year, the milestone reminded her of someone special she had lost.
Thuso wrote, “35. Unexpectedly bittersweet. The arrival of 35 dragged along with it an unexpected knot in my throat and a tightness in my heart. It wasn’t meant to be a milestone birthday until Lunga decided it would be. What started as a joke turned into a ringing memory I’m carrying into this new year. We were supposed to laugh with and at each other when the timer ran out. And now 35 is here, but Lunga is gone. He’s not here and I’m feeling a lot right now but the loudest voice is that of gratitude.”
Despite the sadness she was experiencing, the actress chose to focus on the blessings in her life and her faith.
She continued, “It would be shortsighted of me not to take inventory of how good God has been to me. He has been so faithful in big ways and small. I know Lunga would be one of the loudest one celebrating today. So I choose joy. I refuse to postpone it because I have learned time and time again that tomorrow isn’t promised.”
Thuso also took a moment to thank everyone who had reached out to celebrate her birthday.
