The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs successfully hosted its annual game auction at the Willem Pretorius Game Reserve, located approximately 30 kilometers from Ventersburg. The event brought together farmers, wildlife buyers, conservation professionals and government officials for one of the province’s important wildlife management activities. Annual game auctions play a significant role in supporting biodiversity conservation while creating economic opportunities within South Africa’s wildlife industry. They also provide a regulated platform for the responsible sale and movement of game animals under strict environmental and veterinary oversight. This year’s auction once again highlighted the close relationship between conservation, agriculture and sustainable wildlife management in the Free State.
