Amakhosi play Orlando Pirates in the first Soweto Derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the anticipated derby, Khanye felt Pirates were the stronger team coming into the match.
“Pirates will play an open game,” the outspoken analyst said on iDiski TV.
“[Abdeslam] Ouaddou has this thing of playing with wingers and double 10s. I see Tito starting because he is doing well, he knows football, even though he can be lazy, but there are players like him.”
Khanye predicts Soweto Derby to end in a draw
“And they have the best player, who is Relebohile Mofokeng. He might be quiet the entire game, but you can’t substitute him or start him on the bench…we are talking about the face of youngsters in the country,” Khanye added.
The former Amakhosi winger believes the Buccaneers will have the lion’s share of possession and thus create chances.
“Pound for pound, they (Chiefs) can’t match Orlando Pirates. Obviosuly Kaizer Chiefs will create chances, they will rely on counter-attacks. I suspect they will wait for the right moments because they know they can’t match Orlando Pirates, you see,” Khanye said.
When asked to predict the scoreline, he felt the two teams would cancel each other out.
Mofokeng to score in Soweto Derby, says Khanye
“I don’t expect a heavy score; it’s going to be very tight. It’s going to be 1-1,” Khanye predicted.
“Write it down, Rele is going to score, if not, [Patrick] Maswanganyi. For Chiefs, if [Glody] Lilepo doesn’t score, I suspect this [Flavio] Silva guy will score.”
Ahead of the Soweto Derby, Khanye has been spot on with his prediction. He tipped Egyptian giants Zamalek to eliminate Amakhosi from the CAF Confederation Cup, which they did.
