Let’s be honest: a lot of what gets called feminism these days isn’t about equality at all. It’s about getting extra advantages while waving the flag of justice and plenty of people are starting to notice.
I've been thinking about this for a while, and I want to say it plainly: a growing number of women who call themselves feminists aren't really pushing for equality. What they want looks a lot more like special treatment dressed up in the language of justice.
Don't get me wrong. The original fight for women's rights was necessary and right. Women deserved equal pay, safety from harassment, control over their bodies, and respect in every area of life. That part isn't up for debate.
But somewhere along the way, for some people, the goal shifted. Instead of "the same rights and responsibilities," it became "better treatment because of past wrongs." When you point that out, the conversation gets uncomfortable fast.
