“When we were younger, we did what we must. When we age, we do what we want.”

I was dumbfounded. So true, I thought.

I remember slogging in a job I had no excitement for… just for the good money. Back then, technology consulting paid me well. I never regretted it. I was able to build a sizeable financial portfolio that I greatly benefited from today.

The problem? I am not that passionate about technology.

And so, I moved up the value chain. I went from product configurator to team lead to project manager. From there, I worked on commercial deals, pitch proposals, and recurring sales.

Self-discovery came to me via experimentation.

This arduous journey taught me 2 things.

We need courage to walk away from work [or business] we don’t appreciate. Trust me. This is not advice. This is a prescription perfected by age.

And we must actively try new things. This process confirms those deeply embedded thoughts in our heads. Clarity magnifies with time.
