Reality TV star from The Mommy Club and businesswoman Happy Simelane has shared her reaction to the recent arrest of controversial couple Melany Viljoen and Peet Viljoen in the United States.
The couple was arrested for allegedly shoplifting goods worth $5,300 (around R87,805). According to reports by CBS 12, they were taken into custody on Tuesday, 10 March, after a traffic stop in Boca Raton. Authorities revealed that the stop involved their black Range Rover, which investigators believe was linked to several alleged theft incidents.
Police claim that Melany Viljoen, 39, and her husband, Petrus “Peet” Jacobus Viljoen, 57, targeted a Publix store located on South Federal Highway. Investigators allege that the couple worked together to steal groceries worth more than $5,300 over a period of several months.
The story has also brought renewed attention to past allegations involving the couple. Simelane has previously alleged that she paid R2.8 million to the Viljoens for a Tammy Taylor Nails franchise but never received ownership of the business.
News of their arrest quickly spread across social media, with many South Africans reacting to the shocking developments. Among those who spoke out was Happy Simelane, who has previously had a public dispute with the couple. In a now-viral video shared on TikTok, Simelane is seen dancing and celebrating while referencing her past issues with them.
The video was posted with the caption:
“POV: When the couple that stole R2.8 million from me get arrested in America. For many of us, this is not just news, it is pain, loss and broken trust. Millions were taken from hardworking South Africans. But one thing about life: karma never forgets an address. May justice be served for every victim.”

Speaking to Daily Sun, Simelane opened up about the emotional impact of the situation. She said,
“What hurts the most is not only the money – it’s the betrayal, the hard work, the tears. People trusted them and believed in the brand, only to be left picking up the pieces while they carried on as if nothing happened. That kind of damage goes far beyond finances – it cuts deep,” she said.
Simelane, also known as HerMajesty, added that the arrest is just the beginning of what many victims hope will lead to accountability. She said,
“Their arrest may be the first step, but it doesn’t erase what was done. It doesn’t suddenly restore the sleepless nights, the stress, or the millions that were lost by so many of us. If anything, this should serve as a lesson: you can only run from the truth for so long before it finds you,” she said.
