A French bulldog named Cassie died two days after putting herself between a black bear and her owner during an early morning attack at a rural home near Burnt Ranch in Trinity County, California. Jeff and Mallory Wilson were both injured when the bear attacked in their backyard on Sept. 19, the Lost Coast Outpost reported, citing a fundraising page set up by a friend. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is investigating.
