A squirrel launching an aerial tackle on a young owl, an orangutan that appears to give the camera a rude gesture, and a tiny bird glaring straight down the lens are among the finalists in the 2026 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards. Organizers announced the shortlist on Oct. 1 and 2, drawn from more than 10,000 entries from 112 countries, the most in the competition's history, Colossal reported.
