A Wall Street Journal article with the headline: “Are Therapists to Blame for the Rise of Adults Cutting Off Their Parents?” is circulating widely online and on social media. While the headline is certainly juicy and, no doubt, effective clickbait, there are some inherent problems with the implication that therapists are culpable for a rise in family estrangement.
