We got a deluge of rain in this recent Nor’easter here in Massachusetts. In my haste to prepare for possible large wind gusts, I pulled the umbrella out of our glass table on the concrete deck in our backyard, as I often do…except this time, as I pulled it out, I was startled when the glass instantly shattered into literally thousands of pieces. What was once a large table that seated eight was now a pile of shards scattered far and wide. Here I was with dangerous glass all over, a torrential tropical storm coming any moment to carry the glass far and wide, and a packed day of patients.
