The Eastern Cape Province marked 70 years of Women’s Day by celebrating the achievements of women and highlighting their growing contribution to agriculture and economic development. The commemorative event took place in the Sarah Baartman District, where Premier Oscar Mabuyane handed over tractors to two female farmers as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural production. The beneficiaries were Gertrude Sipambo from Joe Gqabi District in Mt Fletcher and Lungiswa Ngambu from Makana Local Municipality. The agricultural equipment is expected to help both farmers increase their production capacity and improve the profitability of their farming operations. The handover also demonstrated the importance of providing women farmers with practical resources that can help them build sustainable businesses and contribute more significantly to the agricultural economy.
