Manchester City ended their stint of bad luck at Anfield with a thrilling 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, courtesy of an Erling Haaland stoppage time penalty.

The victory reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points, reigniting the title race.

The visitors were trailing until Bernardo Silva’s equaliser in the 84th minute, which sparked an incredible finale.

Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool ahead with a stunning free-kick, but Silva’s clever volley levelled matters.

Haaland then stepped up to score the winner, converting a penalty awarded after Alisson fouled Matheus Nunes.

The win marked City’s first away victory at Anfield since 2003 and puts pressure on the Gunners’ title bid.

The Reds, meanwhile, suffered a blow to their hopes of Champions League qualification, remaining in sixth place and four points off the top five.

Arne Slot’s troops have conceded four 90th minute winners in the league this season — which is already the joint-most by a team in the entirety of a single Premier League campaign.

On Saturday, Manchester United beat Spurs 2-0 before Chelsea and Arsenal put away Wolves and Sunderland respectively.

The Premier League action continues with a midweek round of fixtures from Tuesday to Thursday with all the games broadcast live on SuperSport.
