Nigeria made history at the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships as 16-year-old Oghenegaren Esiovwa-Thompson won the country's first-ever gold medal in the men's U-23 epee. The historic victory took place on August 9 at Rugby School Nigeria in Atlantic City, Lagos.
