THE FUSE

The National Wool Growers Association (NWKV) and the University of the Free State (UFS) Faculty of Agriculture launched the unique Rico Bursary Fund on 17 August 2026 in Bloemfontein. The initiative is rooted in an inspiring sheep story that goes far beyond wool and livestock production. At its heart, the story is about endurance, persistence, generosity and the power of turning an individual journey into an opportunity for others. The Rico Bursary Fund represents more than financial assistance for students, as it carries forward a legacy built through determination and giving. By establishing the fund, the NWKV and UFS are creating a pathway through which the values of perseverance and resilience can continue to influence the next generation of agricultural professionals.
