Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint a permanent police minister. Ramaphosa placed Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on special leave in July last year following allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkwanazi during a media conference a week earlier. Ramaphosa then announced that Firoz Cachalia would be acting Police Commissioner.
