Siphesihle Ndaba Helps Young Learners Write Their Own Stories

Actress Siphesihle Ndaba is making a difference in the lives of young people through the power of storytelling.

The talented actress recently collaborated with Read Alex for a special storytelling workshop aimed at helping young learners develop their literacy and creative expression skills.

Sharing details about the initiative on a joint Instagram post, the organisers wrote: “Empowering Young Voices: A Storytelling Workshop with Siph’esihle Ndaba

In a vibrant display of creativity and collaboration, Siph’esihle Ndaba recently conducted a transformative storytelling workshop for the ReadAlex program; an initiative dedicated to enhancing literacy and expressive skills among young learners. This past week, students engaged in an enriching experience designed to unlock their imagination and refine their storytelling abilities.”

The workshop gave learners a chance to explore the art of scriptwriting and storytelling. Under Ndaba’s guidance, the participants learned how to create engaging stories by focusing on important elements such as character development, dialogue and plot structure.

“The workshop offered students an invaluable opportunity to delve into the art of script construction.

Under Ndaba’s guidance, participants learned the essential elements of crafting compelling narratives, including character development, dialogue, and plot structure. By the end of the session, each student had crafted their own unique stories, reflecting their diverse experiences and perspectives.”

Photos shared from the event showed students from the Alexandra township community, aged between 8 and 15, enthusiastically taking part in the workshop. Armed with the skills they had learned, the learners conceptualised and created their own stories.

The students also had an opportunity to present their scripts to one another and provide feedback on story composition and character development.

The organisers highlighted the importance of storytelling as a tool for self-expression and connection.
