The Gujarat Titans snatched a thrilling one-run win over the Delhi Capitals in an exhilarating Indian Premier League match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.
Chasing 210, Delhi were left heartbroken as David Miller, battling a thumb injury, fell short in the last over despite smashing an unbeaten 41 off 20 balls.
KL Rahul’s 92 off 52 balls helped the Capitals to 209-8, but the Titans’ trio of half-centuries from Shubman Gill (70), Jos Buttler (52), and Washington Sundar (55) was just enough to secure the win.
Rashid Khan’s 3-17 was the standout bowling performance; and it was the ability to stay calm under pressure that really helped them secure the win.
Lungi Ngidi’s 1-24 in the first innings was a good night for the South African, with the rest of the Delhi attack all finishing with economies of 8.5 and above.
The win comes as Gujarat’s first of the season with the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru the only sides still unbeaten in the competition.
On Thursday, the Kolkata Knight Riders take on the Lucknow Super Giants before the royal battle on Friday sees Rajasthan and Bengaluru face off in Guwahati.
