Mpho Popps to Host Content Creator Awards

South African comedian, television host, podcaster and actor Mpho Popps is set to bring his humour and lively personality to the Content Creator Awards later this year.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 17, at The Galleria in Sandton. The event will celebrate some of South Africa’s biggest digital creators while highlighting the growing influence of the country’s creator economy.
Known for his work across comedy, television, podcasting and live entertainment, Popps is no stranger to entertaining audiences. He is one of the co-hosts of the People Need Comedy (PNC) podcast and is also the host of the popular television show The Masked Singer.
With his experience in entertainment and comedy, Popps is expected to bring plenty of energy and laughs to the awards ceremony.
Speaking about being selected to host this year’s event, Popps shared his excitement and reflected on the important role content creators now play in society.
“I’m excited to be hosting the Content Creator Awards this year,” says Popps. “Content creators are literally driving culture right now. They keep us laughing, informed, and inspired every single day on our phones.”
The Content Creator Awards are South Africa’s premier annual platform dedicated to celebrating, recognising, and professionalising the country’s digital creator economy. The ceremony shines a spotlight on creators who continue to shape conversations, trends and entertainment through digital platforms.
Among this year’s standout nominees is award-winning content creator Grace Mondlana, who leads with three nominations.
Mondlana has been nominated for the Content Creator of the Year Award, the Trend Setter Award and the People’s Choice Award. Her multiple nominations highlight her growing influence within South Africa’s digital space.
The 25-year-old creator has already achieved recognition for her work. In 2024, she won the Emerging Creator Award at the DStv Content Creator Awards.
With Mpho Popps taking centre stage as host and creators such as Grace Mondlana among the nominees, this year’s Content Creator Awards promises to be a celebration of the people shaping South Africa’s digital culture.
