Kaizer Chiefs recently announced Fernando Da Cruz as their new head coach. Now, another new coach has been confirmed.

As largely expected, Fernando Da Cruz was officially announced as the new Kaizer Chiefs head coach.

However, he is not the only new coach who has joined Amakhosi. In fact, the Glamour Boys have already signed a brand-new assistant coach for next season.

KAIZER CHIEFS SIGN NEW ASSISTANT COACH

Egyptian Mahmoud Abbas is the second new technical member who has been signed by Kaizer Chiefs.

So, he will join Amakhosi as their newest assistant coach.

“The Soweto giants have also confirmed that Egyptian Mahmoud Abbas will join the club as Da Cruz’s assistant coach,” Soccer Laduma confirmed

Meaning, he becomes the second new confirmed member of Kaizer Chiefs coaching staff ahead of the 2026/27 season.

WHO IS ABBAS AND WHAT DOES HE BRING TO THE NATURENA TABLE?

Abbas may be a new face at Naturena. However, he arrives with a growing reputation in coaching circles.

The 35-year-old Egyptian has earned recognition for his work in performance analysis, talent development and modern coaching structures. Those qualities have helped shape his coaching journey across Saudi Arabia.

Most recently, Abbas served as assistant coach at Al Wehda in the Saudi First Division. However, his responsibilities extended beyond the traditional assistant role.

In late 2024, he was handed the reins on an interim basis and took charge of four matches. That experience offered a glimpse into his leadership credentials as he continued to build his coaching profile.

Now, Abbas brings that blend of analytical expertise and player development knowledge to Kaizer Chiefs as the club continues to strengthen its technical team.
