I Turned a Useless Wall in My 1930s Galley Kitchen into a Storage Haven

My little corner house is a colonial-style home built in the 1930s, when galley kitchens were incredibly common and larger formal dining rooms were prioritized. The galley kitchen doesn’t necessarily feel cramped, but its layout is incredibly awkward. The wall space where you could typically add more cabinets and counter space is broken up by four interruptions: an entryway to the main hallway, a door to the basement, an opening to the dining room (which the flippers who sold us our home clearly added to make the first floor feel more open-concept), and another door leading to the half bathroom just off the kitchen. Between all those openings (and a few other questionable design decisions made by said flippers that I won’t get into right now), we’re working with very limited cabinet and counter space.
