Sixteen years after it was first released, Super Mario Galaxy 2 got a random update last night on Switch, and on top of some bug fixes, it added a new storybook segment about Rosalina. Given some of the changes The Super Mario Galaxy Movie made to the character’s backstory and Nintendo’s messaging on the matter, fans were expecting this update to finally draw a familial line between Rosalina and another character directly in the old Wii game itself. But now that fans have actually seen the story in full, they’re mostly just confused and arguing about what it all means.
