Arriving at Strasbourg by train provides no clue to the beauty and diversity of the city that lies beyond the railway station. The station building itself is distracting. It was built in 1883 with neo-Renaissance influences, but a futuristic, contrasting glass shell was added in 2007 to protect the original façade.
