Authors Note: I wrote this to capture a part of humanity that often gets overlooked: our connection to the earth and the living world around us. Humans are defined by what they can, but we are also defined by what we are. I hope this helps you see both.

Humans are human because they can.

They can think.

They can speak.

They can imagine what does not exist and make it real.

But humans are also human because they are creatures.

They have skin.

They have bodies.

They have senses.

They have anatomy.

These things root us.

They connect us to the earth, to the animals, to life itself.

A human sees a tree.

A human touches the soil.

A human breathes the wind.

We are not just minds.

We are bodies in a world that is alive.

Our capability cannot exist without this connection to being.

Humans are humans because they can.

Humans are humans because they are part of life.

To see a human fully, you must see both.
