Kaizer Chiefs fans have continued to troll the social media pages of Bafana Bafana. This comes after only one club player, Bradley Cross, was selected for the FIFA World Cup squad.
Amakhosi fans have even gone so far as to show their support for the Mexican national team, which will play South Africa in the opening match on Thursday, 11 June.
On Facebook, disgruntled Kaizer Chiefs fans have been spamming the comments section under every Bafana Bafana post.
Many have shown disdain for several national team players from clubs like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, calling on the page’s administrators to post only pics of their club player, Bradley Cross.
A few comments read…
“All the players in those pictures don’t mean f*k*l to me..where’s my Bradley Cross?Where is KAIZER CHIEFS’ Mlunguuuuuuuuuuu?… He’s the only player who matters in that squad”
“Where is Cross? We want to react, or we must save our reactions?”
“All the best to Bradley Cross and his teammates”
One Amakhosi fan even referred to Bafana Bafana as “Mfana”, citing the single Kaizer Chiefs player in the squad.
Meanwhile, Bradley Cross has not paid too much attention to the club banter.
Speaking at a press conference last month, he said of the club rivalry: “I don’t really focus too much on social media. I would rather stick towards myself and what I can control. Like I said before, I just work hard, put my head down and look ahead.”
Kaizer Chiefs fans have stood on business by showing their support to Mexico, who will face off against Bafana in the FIFA World Cup’s opening match this Thursday.
Many Amakhosi fans have flooded the comments section of the Mexican national team by pledging support and even jokingly leaking tactical information about the South African team.
Others have posted comedic videos of them attempting to learn the Mexican national anthem.
