SIWELELE HOLD ORLANDO PIRATES IN SOWETO
The Buccaneers typically dominated proceedings from the first whistle, launching wave after wave of attacks as they looked to break down a stubborn Siwelele FC defence.
Orlando Pirates controlled possession and territory for long spells, but visiting goalkeeper Ricardo Goss produced an outstanding performance between the posts. Save after save kept his side in the contest, and his efforts would ultimately earn him the Man of the Match award.
Despite the Buccaneers’ early pressure, it was Siwelele who struck first in the 29th minute following a costly mistake at the back.
Orlando Pirates left-back Nkosikhona Ndaba misplaced a pass that went straight to Tebogo Potsane. Potsane reacted quickly and slipped the ball to Vincent Pule, who made no mistake as he fired a low shot past goalkeeper Sipho Chaine to give the visitors a surprise lead.
Orlando Pirates continued to push forward after the break and eventually found their reward in the 51st minute. Thalente Mbatha produced a perfectly weighted through ball that split the defence and found Tshepang Moremi in space. The forward kept his composure and calmly placed his finish into the corner to level the score at 1-1.
More opportunities came for the Sea Robbers, but a string of saves and incredible misses saw the game end square.
Coming up next for Orlando Pirates is a trip to Mbombela to battle TS Galaxy on Sunday, 22 March.
