The former Mamelodi Sundowns and MC Alger coach faced the Dar El Beida Court in Algiers after trying to leave Houari Boumediene International Airport with about $15,000 undeclared—over Algeria’s $7,500 limit.
The court issued a two-month suspended jail term Monday, confiscated €14,200, and fined him 50,000 Algerian dinars, around €200. This came days after his mutual split from MC Alger, with the South African embassy offering consular help as he awaits a flight via Turkey to possibly join Libya’s Al-Ittihad.
Sources say the 39-year-old was unaware of the strict rules after just seven months in the country.
