Paris Saint-Germain retained the Champions League with a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Arsenal in Budapest on Saturday, after the final finished 1-1 after extra time.
Arsenal struck first through Kai Havertz in the sixth minute, with the German capitalising on a deflection to fire in from a tight angle.
Mikel Arteta’s Premier League champions frustrated PSG for long spells with disciplined defending, but Ousmane Dembele leveled from the spot midway through the second half after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled by Cristhian Mosquera.
With no further goals in extra time, the match went to spotkicks.
Eberechi Eze missed Arsenal’s second, and although David Raya saved from Nuno Mendes, Lucas Beraldo later put PSG 4-3 up.
Gabriel then sent Arsenal’s fifth kick over the bar, handing Luis Enrique’s side the trophy.
The victory makes PSG only the second club after Real Madrid to win consecutive titles in the Champions League era.
It is Enrique’s third triumph as coach, following wins with Barcelona in 2015 and PSG last year.
Celebrations erupted at a packed Parc des Princes and across Paris, with a victory parade planned near the Eiffel Tower on Sunday.
Arsenal, despite the heartbreak, still held a parade of their own after securing their first Premier League title in 22 years.
