Rapist ex-Met officer given extra life sentence

The 50-year-old was found guilty on Wednesday of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s when he was 14 and raping a former partner 20 years later.
He had already been serving 36 life sentences with a minimum of 32 years after admitting 71 offences of sexual violence committed over a 17-year period.
In a victim impact statement the woman abused as a child told the court she had lived with trauma since childhood: "It has followed me into adulthood".
Carrick had been found guilty of five counts of indecent assault against the woman between April 1989 and August 1990.
