Therapy Dogs Enjoy Happy Splash in the Pool!

Jozi’s weather has been hot. Paws At Work’s therapy dogs made the most of it, using the opportunity for a good splash and a paddle in the pool!
Johannesburg, South Africa (09 February 2026) – Dogs make life much better. Woodrock Animal Rescue knows that. That’s why they started the Paws At Work programme, where rescues take on new roles as therapy dogs, bringing mental wellness to every guest and visitor who pops in to see them.
“Did you know that these fluffy friends can work wonders for our mental health? Our fur-babies boost our self-esteem and make us feel like part of the pack! They can give us a sense of purpose when we’re feeling low.” shares Woodrock.
They’re working doggies who bring happiness to others, as well as support to their fellow rescue doggies at the shelter.
But they also deserve a day off! That’s exactly what they got this week. When the heat in Jozi was piping, Paws’ therapy dogs were treated to a cool down in the pool.
“With the heat rising in Johannesburg, our therapy pups cooled off in the shallow splash pool at Woodrock Animal Rescue — and let’s just say… it was the best day ever in their books.”
Most adorable thing ever. The swimming also enriches and provides gentle exercise for the doggies.
“These water sessions aren’t just fun (though there were plenty of zoomies). They’re also wonderful for confidence, enrichment, and gentle exercise — all part of keeping our therapy dogs happy, balanced, and ready to share their calm with others.”
