Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolley lit up New Chandigarh on Sunday as the Punjab Kings crushed the Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs in a Tata IPL run-fest.

Batting first, Shreyas Iyer’s side posted a mammoth 254-7 after Arya’s explosive 93 off 37 balls, featuring nine sixes and four fours.

Connolley took time to settle but finished with 87 off 46, smashing seven sixes and eight fours.

The pair added 182 off just 80 balls for the second wicket, recovering from Prabhsimran Singh’s golden duck.

Both fell short of centuries within three balls, but Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh kept the momentum, pushing Punjab past 250.

Chasing 255, Lucknow never matched the required rate and ended on 200-5. Rishabh Pant, Markram and Mitchell Marsh all scored 40s, but none could match Punjab’s firepower. Marco Jansen led the Kings’ attack with 2-37.

The win leaves Punjab three points clear of RCB at the top of the table with a trip to Delhi next on the agenda for them.

On Monday, struggling Mumbai Indians take on the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad before the Sunrisers Hyderabad are in action against the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.
