Young and old alike dove into a fantastic day of discovery at this year’s Cubs Club Connect by CapeNature! From awesome team challenges to educational games, everyone got to immerse themselves in the wonders of water while uncovering the vital importance of freshwater ecosystems, conservation, and responsible water use.

Cape Town, South Africa (01 March 2026) – Learning, laughter, and a deep connection to nature were the order of the day at CapeNature’s Cubs Club Connect 2026!

The Jonkershoek Nature Reserve was abuzz over the weekend as nearly 70 children, families, and teachers gathered to celebrate this year’s theme and one of our environment’s most essential resources: Water.

These young minds (and their parents) immersed themselves in a day of discovery, featuring hands-on educational games, outdoor challenges, and an exploration into freshwater ecosystems, conservation and responsible water use. Picture a wide range of interactive, water-inspired activities designed to engage children between the ages of four and 13 years old!

There was a ton of fun for the older crowd as Cubs Club Connect also serves as a melting pot to bring families together – as was demonstrated by a lively potjie kos competition!

Families prepared hearty meals while embracing the spirit of teamwork and friendly competition. The activity not only added a cultural and social element to the programme but also created an opportunity for families to connect, share stories and enjoy time together outdoors.

“Cubs Club Connect continues to play an important role in strengthening relationships between families and conservation initiatives, providing impactful outdoor learning experiences that inspire young environmental enthusiasts and help broaden the appeal of CapeNature’s environmental education programme,” said Shaunal Mack, CapeNature Cubs Club co-ordinator.

“The 2026 event successfully reinforced the Cubs Club’s commitment to environmental education through play, creativity and shared experiences.”

Judging by the strong attendance and enthusiastic participation, Cubs Club Connect 2026 again proved to be a highlight on the social calendar. Families left with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for water as one of our most precious natural resources.
