South African singer and dancer Jelly Babie has shared a deeply personal and emotional account of the alleged abuse she experienced during her marriage to her husband, Koketso. The 20-year-old Bacardi music star took to Instagram to reveal the traumatic experiences she says she endured, including physical, emotional, and financial abuse.

The artist, best known for her hit “Jukulyn,” posted a series of Instagram stories where she opened up about the challenges she faced during the marriage. Her posts included graphic images showing bruises on her legs, which she claims were a result of the abuse she suffered.

Responding to a question about how married life had been treating her, Jelly Babie made a candid confession, saying she wishes she had never gotten married.

I survived being in an abusive marriage at a young age, but I don’t think I will ever recover,” she wrote.

The singer revealed that the emotional toll of the relationship pushed her to extremely dark moments, including multiple suicide attempts. She shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed, explaining that the trauma she experienced had a serious impact on her mental health.

In addition to the physical and emotional abuse allegations, Jelly Babie also accused her husband of financial manipulation. According to the singer, she was persuaded to send him most of the money she earned from performances.

“He manipulated me and told me I can’t save money, I spend a lot, so I must send him my gigs money so we can save money to have a better future, and I did send him all my money for like two full years,” she claimed.

The singer stated that over the course of the relationship she allegedly transferred around R2 million to him. To support her claim, she posted screenshots from her banking app showing several payments.

Rumors about trouble in Jelly Babie’s marriage had surfaced previously. Nearly eleven months after getting married, she posted a picture holding her wedding ring with the caption “Letting go of my shayla,” suggesting that the relationship may have been coming to an end. However, she later appeared wearing her ring again, which led many fans to believe that the couple had reconciled at the time.

Jelly Babie and Koketso tied the knot in 2024 after a lobola ceremony, but their marriage had already drawn criticism from some observers who felt the young artist was too young to marry while still establishing her career.

Despite the controversy surrounding her personal life, Jelly Babie has continued to grow in the music industry. She rose to prominence in 2023 through her association with the late Vusi Ma R5 and has since collaborated with major artists including DJ Maphorisa and Pabi Cooper.

Her story has sparked widespread discussion online, with many fans expressing support and encouraging the young star to prioritize her healing and well-being as she moves forward with her life and career.
