Antoine Semenyo’s moment of brilliance gave Manchester City a 1-0 win over Chelsea in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley, securing the club’s eighth title and a domestic cup double this season.

The Ghana winger produced the decisive goal in the 72nd minute, meeting Erling Haaland’s cutback with an audacious back-flick that curled into the far corner.

It was enough to break down a stubborn Chelsea defence and hand Pep Guardiola a third FA Cup triumph after previously achieving victory in 2019 and 2023.

The win ended City’s run of two straight final defeats and marked their second trophy of the season following their Carabao Cup triumph over Arsenal in March.

For Semenyo, a January signing from Bournemouth, it was a fairytale moment at the national stadium, just miles away from his birthplace.

City dominated possession but struggled to break through a deep Chelsea block until Haaland’s clever run and pass created the opening.

Semenyo had earlier headed over from close range, while Chelsea’s best chance came when Moises Caicedo’s header was cleared off the line by Rodri.

Guardiola now has 20 trophies in a decade at City, with attention turning back to the Premier League.

City sit two points behind Arsenal with two games left, needing a perfect finish sprinkled with some luck to keep their title hopes alive.

For Chelsea, defeat capped another turbulent season under interim boss Calum McFarlane, with ninth their current league position meaning they will most likely contend the Uefa Conference League next season.
