’The Great Flood’ Review: Seoul Gets Submerged in a Survival Tale That Eventually Goes Down a Confused Sci-Fi Wormhole

Narrative movement from the physical to the metaphysical has seldom veered so sharply as in “The Great Flood.” Kim Byung-woo’s Netflix spectacle starts out as a disaster-movie fan’s dream come true, combining elements of “The Poseidon Adventure” and “The Towering Inferno” as our protagonists flee upward in a highrise during a catastrophe. But as if that weren’t challenging enough, the overcomplicated script soon takes a turn in the direction of “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Inception” and other sci-fi constructs that toy with the space-time continuum.
