Former The Way Ngingakhona star Innocent “Inno” Matijane has shared a powerful and deeply emotional message about his journey, his healing, and the faith that carried him through some of his darkest moments. The ex–Moja Love reality star used his social media page to reflect on his struggles, especially with gender dysphoria, and how reconnecting with God helped him find peace.
In his heartfelt post, Inno spoke openly about the confusion and emotional pain he once lived with. He shared, “There was a time when I looked in the mirror and did not recognise myself. Gender dysphoria is real. It is a pain that lives under your skin and makes every breath feel heavy. I thought changing everything would finally bring peace, but when the noise faded, I was left with the same sadness and emptiness.”
“I do not speak for anyone else. Some people find happiness in transition and I respect them completely. But my truth is different. The peace I hoped for never came. The depression stayed. The nights were still dark.”
The reality star also opened up about being misunderstood. “People said I did it for attention without ever asking what it felt like to live inside my mind. They did not see the nights I prayed to wake up without pain.”
Inno explained that part of his struggle came from fears about his body and what the future might hold. He described this as a breaking point, but also a moment that taught him the value of life. He admitted there were times when the pain felt impossible to bear, saying these words for anyone who might be feeling the same: “If you do, please reach out for help. There is no shame in wanting to stay alive.”
His healing began when he stopped running from his emotions and turned back to God. “I told Him everything. Slowly He showed me who I was beneath all the labels and the noise. Slowly I started to feel peace again.” While dysphoria still “whispers,” he says it no longer controls him. For Inno, “Peace is not perfection. Peace is survival.”
He ended his message with compassion for others: “To my trans brothers and sisters and to anyone who is questioning or hurting… You do not know the nights we survive or the weight of trying to live in a body that feels like a war zone.” He reminded those feeling lost that they are not alone and that “God never left me. I am not ashamed of my story.”
In July 2025, Inno also announced that he would be leaving The Way Ngingakhona after five years on the show. The Moja Love series follows LGBTQIA+ community members, showcasing their lives, challenges, and victories. Reflecting on his departure, he said, “I have grown in ways I never imagined. Spiritually, emotionally, and personally… That is why I have chosen to step away from the show.”
He stressed that his exit was not influenced by negativity. “My experience with the production team has always been warm and professional… I leave with gratitude, not regret.”
