Former Percy Tau and Njabulo Blom are both free agents after parting ways with Vietnamese club Nam Dinh FC following just one season with the V-League 1 side.
Tau made 22 appearances for the club, scoring once and providing four assists during his short spell in Vietnam.
The former Al Ahly and Brighton & Hove Albion star arrived with high expectations, but was released this week as part of a major squad overhaul at the club.
Njabulo Blom and Percy Tau return to SA?
Blom, who left Kaizer Chiefs last season, struggled with injuries throughout his time in Vietnam.
Reports suggest the midfielder failed to establish himself due to a lack of game time, leading to the club’s decision not to retain him.
Percy Tau has enjoyed a remarkable career since leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.
His move to Club Brugge saw him compete at the highest level, including UEFA Champions League clashes against giants such as Real Madrid.
At the time, Tau appeared destined for an even bigger breakthrough in Europe.
However, his career momentum slowed after being recalled by Brighton. Limited game time in England eventually led to his move to Al Ahly.
Although Tau won several trophies in Egypt, many believe he never fully developed into the player many expected him to become. His performances also saw him lose his place in the Bafana Bafana squad.
The 31-year-old was left out of South Africa’s last AFCON squad and now appears unlikely to feature in the country’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Last year, Percy Tau was linked with a move to Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
At the time, he was seen as a possible marquee signing but with his stock having fallen in recent years, it remains to be seen whether Amakhosi would still consider making a move for the experienced attacker.
