Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Kaze in talks with PSL team

Following the Kaizer Chiefs exit, Cedric Kaze’s next move in South African football is already taking shape.

The Burundian coach has confirmed he is currently in talks with a Betway Premiership side.

This comes shortly after his departure from Kaizer Chiefs, where he was part of a technical team that exited Naturena at the end of the season.

KAIZER CHIEFS CHAPTER CLOSES AFTER STEADY IMPROVEMENT

Kaze did not leave alone. The entire coaching structure that had been working behind the scenes also stepped away once the campaign concluded.

His spell at Amakhosi formed part of a broader rebuilding phase that saw the club show signs of stability again in the league.

Kaizer Chiefs ended the season in third place. The finish secured CAF Confederation Cup football and marked a step forward compared to earlier campaigns where results were far more inconsistent.

Kaze’s role at the club changed over time. He initially joined as part of Nasreddine Nabi’s technical staff, working within a structured coaching setup that was meant to guide the team through a long-term project.

As the season progressed and Nabi’s tenure came to an end, Kaze moved into a co-coaching position alongside Khalil Ben Youssef. That shift placed him closer to the core decision-making on matchdays, as the technical responsibilities were redistributed within the group.

Despite the recent exit, Kaze’s name has not taken long to circulate again in PSL coaching circles.

He has now confirmed that conversations are already underway. They are with a club that finished in the upper half of the Betway Premiership standings.

At this stage, nothing has been finalised, but the early discussions point to a possible quick return to the dugout for the Burundian coach. It is just weeks after leaving one of the country’s biggest clubs.

“LET’S SAY IT’S A TEAM IN THE TOP TEN”

Kaze has made it clear that a return to South African football is very much on the table. Especially given his understanding of the league and its structure.

“Yes [I would accept the job in the PSL],” he answered during the interview with Robert Marawa on MSW.

“There are some talks that are happening. If it goes well, I’d gladly take it because I believe I know the platform. The league, the players and the format of the league.

“I’m pretty sure that I can be helpful,” he added.

However, when pushed further on whether it could be Sekhukhune United specifically, he gave a small indication of familiarity with the club without confirming anything.
