Emergency crews taken to hospital after crash

Paramedics and off-duty police officers have been taken to hospital following a collision in South Benfleet.

Essex Police said it was called to reports of a single vehicle crash in the early hours of Saturday, close to Sadlers Farm roundabout on the A13.

Emergency services attended the scene, and while responding a second collision occurred leaving two paramedics and three off-duty officers injured. They are all receiving hospital treatment.

The force said it had closed the A130 between Sadlers Farm roundabout and the A1245 Bonville's Roundabout, leading to the A13, while it carried out an investigation.

It has advised drivers to check before they travel and plan their journeys accordingly.
