Recognising that South Africa’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem) pipeline begins long before learners start their tertiary education, the University of Pretoria (UP) has launched its inaugural Girls in Stem programme, a bold initiative designed to inspire young women from under-resourced communities to become the scientists, engineers and innovators who will help solve the country’s greatest challenges.
