Over 200 Volunteers for Girlguiding Are Threatening to Quit Over its Anti-Trans Policy

You might have heard that Girlguiding has recently decided to ban trans girls from its organization, well a petition is circulating in protest of the policy. The woman who started the petition, Amanda Jane Heather, said the ban “contradicts established safeguarding research, the lived experience of our members, and the inclusive ethos we were trained to deliver.”

She also said the decision was made “without meaningful consultation, without adequate justification, and without any clear evidence that trans inclusion has ever posed a safeguarding risk.”

Over 200 volunteers signed onto the petition threatening to leave.

I talk a lot about how there’s over 900 anti-trans bills being pushed in the US right now, but the operative word there is ‘pushed.’ A lot of this doesn’t have popular support. Yeah, you see poll after poll showing support of trans people is waning but there’s the concept of transphobia and the reality of anti-trans policy.

It took over 10 years for Texas to make a bathroom law and it only applies to public facilities.
