THE FUSE

Anyone remember this toy? "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down" was the ad copy when these toys arrived on commercials in between Bugs Bunny episodes on Saturday mornings when I was a kid in Ohio. They are my metaphor for the Inner Critic, the inner "drill instructor" of the mind. Here's the thing about Weebles and our Inner Critic thought monsters — they have no arms and no legs! They can't actually do anything in the world!
