Time to sit on the analyst’s couch and realize what we can do

It’s not that people are pure evil. In fact, the reason why planetary and geopolitical destruction continues is that we are all pretty certain we are “good.”

Nearly one hundred years ago, when millions joined the NAZI parties around the world, it was not to do evil. It was because our human defense mechanisms tell us we can select the best people ever and make humanity even better.

Eugenics means “good genes,” not “terrible fascists.”

But good intentions often go wrong. Psychologically, if reflective, we can learn from this.

All of us are embedded in a system that uses fossil fuels and wastes resources. The reasons we do are complex, but they can be simplified down to three main positions:

We can’t see our own actions as bad.

We don’t understand that we have power to change the system.

We pay for the externalized costs, rather than demand profiteers pay.
