Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has provided a concerning update on the recovery of new signing Langelihle Phili after Amakhosi returned to winning ways in the Betway Premiership. The Soweto giants claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Siwelele FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday to move back into third position on the league table. Chiefs secured the three points through goals from Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba and an own goal, ending a run of consecutive draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay. However, the victory came without one of the club’s notable new arrivals, with Phili forced to watch from the sidelines because of an ankle injury. Da Cruz has now confirmed that the 21-year-old forward faces a lengthy recovery period before he can return to competitive action.
