Eliud Kipchoge Inspired By Siya Kolisi During Cape Town Visit

World-famous marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge recently visited Cape Town for the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. During his stay in the province, the legendary athlete spent time with South African rugby captain Siya Kolisi.
Kipchoge is known as one of the greatest marathon runners in history. He is a two-time Olympic marathon champion, winning gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He also became the first person ever to complete a marathon in under two hours, making history and inspiring millions of people around the world.
Taking to Instagram, Kipchoge shared pictures of himself with Siya Kolisi and spoke about how much the meeting meant to him. The marathon star praised Kolisi for the impact he has both on and off the rugby field.
“I can say Siya is a true legend and a real inspiration on and off the field. He shows that no matter where you come from or what your background is, you can achieve great things in life through hard work, belief, and determination,” wrote the marathon runner.
Kipchoge also praised the work Siya is doing through the Kolisi Foundation and how it is changing lives across Africa.
“The work Siya is doing in communities across Africa, not only through rugby but also through the incredible work of the @kolisi_foundation, brings hope to so many people. Thank you for the great morning, Siya. I am truly inspired by you, and I’m glad to say I can call you a friend now,” he wrote.
The meeting between the two sports stars quickly caught the attention of fans online, with many praising the friendship between two African icons who continue to inspire people through sport, leadership, and community work.
