THE FUSE

One of the biggest points of contention during Marathon’s pre-launch server slam was, surprisingly, the UI. Players spent the free weekend debating the merits and eyesores associated with unintuitive menus, various layers of text boxes and fonts, and an inventory system that can occasionally make you feel like you’re searching for a needle in a stack of other needles. But a growing contingent of fans are coming around to the extraction shooter’s unique aesthetic and at least one Bungie designer is promising that Marathon’s “fontslop” will never have its secret sauce nerfed on his watch.
